PARTNERSHIP HIGHLIGHTS

January 2019

Came out with an aggressive state policy platform, enjoying success with the increase of the State of Iowa Workforce Housing Credit and increasing the annual allocation to state housing trust funds.

Gave presentations to Iowa Senate Local Government Committee and the House Economic Growth Committee.

April 2019

Presented to the Davenport Diocese, Social Action Saturday #3, in Iowa City, to 20 interested parties.

May 2019

Expanded board of directors by 33% to handle the increased interest in IHP.

Sponsored a panel on affordable housing on the Greater Des Moines Partnership’s Annual Washington, D.C. trip.

June – September 2019

Held numerous meetings with the Iowa Finance Authority and facilitated the timing of the new Qualified Action Plan, making it a two-year authorization for the first time ever in Iowa. This makes a substantial change to awards being made in August, allowing for the first time for developers not to worry about winter weather conditions.

Attended the Rural Development Summit held in Grinnell, along with becoming a member of the organization.

October 2019

Arranged forums for interested people to attend and discuss items such as Homeownership and federal HOME money.

Spoke at affordable housing event in Calmar, Iowa, attended by 20 local government and city officials, interested in learning more about affordable housing development.

Spoke out against the City of Des Moines’ utility bench-marking and single family zoning changes, each which would directly affect affordable housing efforts in Des Moines.

November 2019

Welcomed 61 new members to the Iowa Housing Partnership.
